KUCHING: At just 28, Elinga Laum is the youngest Women exco member of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) after she succeeded in her bid to get elected.

She was announced as one of the two PBB Women elected exco members for the Bidayuh section during the movement’s triennial general meeting at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) yesterday.

Elinga from PBB Tarat also garnered the highest votes – 214 – in the three-cornered contest.
Another successful candidate was Jenny Jita (PBB Kedup) who got 160 votes. The other candidate, PBB Women assistant information chief Isabell Julau Mejat (PBB Bengoh), managed just 116 votes and failed to make the cut.

The Bidayuh section was the only section where contests for exco members’ post were carried out in the 12th PBB Women TGM.

Though the election was held last Saturday, the official announcement of results was only made yesterday.

PBB Women chief Senator Dato Sri Empiang Jabu had said last Saturday that 249 representatives cast their votes.

These comprised 213 voters from 71 branches, 33 from the supreme council and three from PBB main body.
